FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What kind of devices can be charged by the BougeRV 130 Watts Portable solar panel?
1. Solar Power Station
2. Battery. Such as Lead-acid, Lithium, Gel and so on (should be used with solar charge controller)
Please note that the BougeRV 130 Watts Portable Solar Panel Kit does not include the solar charge controller, if you do not know what parts are needed to charge your battery, please send us your needs and the specification of your battery, we will help you to pick the appropriated parts for you.
Is this solar panel waterproof?
Yes, BougeRV 130 Watts Portable Foldable Solar Panel complies with the IP67 standard dustproof and waterproof (main body panel part), do not install it in water or frequently submerged places.
What is the difference between 5BB and 9BB?
- The most difference in mainly, 9BB is more efficient, has less heat, more longevity.
- The bus bar thinner, the total surface the cells occupied is larger, the more power is produced. Through increase the number of bus bar and reduce the total surface the bus bar occupied, internal resistance and the heat during solar panel working has been reduced greatly. With less internal resistance and less heat, the longevity of 9BB solar panel is promoted substantially more than 5BB solar panel.
What causes the low output power or no output during the use of solar panels? How can I solve it?
- Low light condition or shadow & dust on the panel.
- if you use a solar panel to charge the battery bank with a PWM controller, the more power the solar panel produces, the more loss caused by the PWM controller, and the MPPT will not cause the loss.
- if you use the solar panel to charge a power station, the power station will limit it, you could please check the specification of the power station, some power station will limit the solar input to no more than 65 watts/5.5 amps.

An Ok panel but not the stealer one I had hoped forFirst I want to start off saying that in general, I like BougeRV and most of the products I have purchased from them. I was really excited when I saw this as a Vine item as it promised a glass panel performance at half the weight. I couldn’t wait to test this out.It comes with a nice carrying case and has your standard MC4 connectors and then an MC4 adapter to 5.5 plug with 8mm adapter (7.9) to cover most of your commonly used plugs. It has an aluminum frame similar to a glass panel and has two latches on the side to keep it closed. It has a built in stand, which is ok, and a nice idea. However, the stand doesn’t exactly inspire confidence when using it. The other rough thing is lowest angle you can set the panel at with it is still pretty steep, around 60 degrees. That’s just not a good angle for summer and for me around 30 degrees is the target angle. Now onto performance. I have tested this for near a month because I didn’t want to write the results of what I was seeing. Again, I like this company. However, for a 130 watt panel, I would expect it to perform around 100 watts based on testing roughly 15 or more panels now. When the panel was cool and just deployed, I could get 115 watts for a brief period. The problem is once this become heat soaked by the sun, it would drop to around 80 watts. This was with me tilting the panel to around 30 degrees too in an effort to get the best angle. If this was a 100 watt rated panel..that would have been good, but at a 130 rating…that is just a poor performance. In summary, if you can get this panel on a good sale, it might be worth the price. However, at the current price, I would look elsewhere. A glass panel is always best, but I have had 100 watt rated fabric style portable panels get 80 watts at near $100 less than this. A few part of this aren’t meant to stay in the weather as mine has seen some rainy days and the handle hardware is already rusting. This company’s 200 watt glass panel is much better if you can deal with the size.

Great 120W solar panel! This is a great portable 130w solar panel. It generates a lot of power! The solar panel is easy to transport and comes with a nice carrying case. The kick stand legs are easy to fold out and points the panels in the right direction to capture the sun’s rays. I have been using these panels 24/7 for the past three weeks. It is lying unprotected in the elements on my patio cover. I’m going to leave it out for a few months and see how well it weathers the elements.Pros:1. 130w of power! I’m averaging 4-5 amps in full sunlight2. Carrying case with zippers3. Cable to plug into solar generator4. Great tech support5. Not too heavy6. Twist lock tabs for locking panels when folded, no flimsy magnets.7. Has diodes for each panel8. easy to remove access panels in rear to replace diodes9. great support legs, has locking nuts, won’t fall downCons1. Plastic front panel in front of solar, scratches easy. I wished they used glass or thicker plexi.2. Solar panel faces outward when folded, poor design. Panels can get damaged easily3. Cabling are loose and short4. Panels are thick when folded – a little bulky to carry.5. diodes are solder and not easy to replace if blown6. frames has a lot of plastic parts that aren’t sealed and may not survived in wet climates.I like the is panel a lot and will use it to charge my solar generator when we go camping. It generates a lot of power without taking up space in your car. Due to the size and weight, it is harder to carry if you are traveling a long distance.

Nice panels, very lightweight. Excellent customer service. These panels are nice and work well – I’ve used them directly charge several “solar” generators quite rapidly. You’ll need a charge controller to use them for any sort of deep cycle rv battery system. I have panels from several other brands in different sizes and wattages and these are just as nice as any of them. They’re closer in construction to my Renogy suitcase panels than any of my others, but the whole unit is far lighter. This is good and bad – the Renogy panels have some decent weight to them make them less likely to blow over in a stiff wind. These are so light they require some sort of weight to hold down. Both these and the Renogy suitcase models fold with the panels on the outside. This leaves room between the panels to store your cables. The case on these is decent protection but you still want to handle with some care so the panels themselves don’t get damaged. Speaking of damage…My first set arrived with some pretty significant scuffs marks, scratches, and what appeared to be delamination issues. I contacted the seller via the phone number in the instructions and was immediately responded to via text. after sending a couple pictures the whole unit was rapidly replaced without any questions or issues. Five stars for customer service alone. While my Renogy panels will continue to be my primary power source (at least until I get another charge controller), these will come along in the trailer as a backup and will get used for anything that can be directly charged without a controller – like my generators. They work wonderfully and keep me going while dispersed camping indefinitely.

Works great on Cloudy Day!Just got it today… so not put to a full test yet, but I used it on a very cloudy day, and it charged my Pacxess 288 watt battery pack from 80% to 100% in under one hour. I would suspect it will charge from zero to full in decent sun, in maybe four hours.Very light and portable… and what is great is that it has kickstands. Others do not have this, and it will make it easy to track the sun.The instructions were minimal but it is very easy to figure out. So far so good!

Works but came to me used!Arrived in beat up box. It fell out on to my foot when I picked it up to take inside.Panel was obviously used. All scratched up panel and metal edges. Since it seemed to work OK, I’m using it as was too much trouble to return at the time.
