still seems to be workingI ordered for someone else haven’t heard anything negative

Comes as DescribedThis product comes as described. There were no instructions as to how to use the tools that come with it. When the metal pieces are inserted into the plastic pieces, they are basically impossible to get out if a mistake is made. The metal pieces are not very durable and break easily. The plastic male and female pieces are easy to connect and mostly easily to disconnect.

  5. DAD

Easy peasyEasy to do. Works well

  6. KD

These have worked well for 2 months on RV rooftop solarReplaced some corroded SAE plugs in my rooftop solar on my RV. The Bouge solar connectors were inexpensive and seem to work well.

  7. Handy

They are qualityThey tighten up around the wire for water proofing unlike sum that don’t. The wire clip works smooth and clicks into a lock. Cheaper ones don’t fit together well. All of this makes the job go Easley. Highly recommend.

Decent Chinese MC4 connectors (for 10 AWG wire)The BougeRV MC4 connector kit I purchased last year, including a crimping tool, worked fine, and the connectors mated with a miscellaneous collection of Chinese MC4 connectors on various small solar panels and “solar generators”. But, the connectors in that kit were intended for crimping to 12 AWG wire (which happened to be the wire I was working with). However, I wanted some made to crimp to 10 AWG wire, hence the purchase of this “kit” of 6 pairs of 10 AWG connectors and two plastic “wrenches”.Note the correspondence between the mm (actually square mm) and AWG (American Wire Gauge): 2.5mm = 14 AWG, 4mm = 12 AWG, 6mm = 10 AWG. This will help choosing the correct section of the crimping tool die. Close examination of the metal contacts showed that they were indeed wider at the crimping end than the 12 AWG contacts from the prior kit, so they are what they say (10 AWG).Bonus: packed in with the two “wrenches” were 4 (two each male and female) metal contacts, handy in case one is mangled in a botched attempt to crimp. This was not mentioned in the product description. Minor downside: they are sized for 12 AWG wire, not the 10 AWG of the rest of the contacts in the kit – but still handy to have.Note that there is no “Standard” MC4 connector. Differences in contact dimensions for different wire gauges are not standard either. Often 12 and 10 AWG use identical metal contacts, sometimes even for 14 AWG. The “gland” (rubber seal at the rear of the connector) should be matched somewhat to the insulated wire size, but often is not, resulting in variable sealing against weather. The BougeRV contacts do seem to vary slightly in size between 12 and 10 AWG wire, though the gland does not. For “casual” use in small projects (which is my situation), so long as MC4 connectors mate, and the gland seal looks adequate, it does not matter much. If you are building a large permanent solar installation, you might do better to select high-quality components, from a single Western manufacturer. If you are on a budget, but working with 10 AWG wire, these BougeRV MC4 connectors should work fine, including in gland sealing on the larger wire. Just be sure to crimp the contacts in the 6mm section of your crimp tool.
