Description

The Flojet 18555 DC portable waste pump is the ideal solution for emptying holding tanks on recreational vehicles and avoiding dump stations. The macerator section grinds waste down to a particle size of 1/8″ maximum so it can easily be pumped through a garden hose (5/8″ minimum). The pump section is self-priming, permitting the unit to be mounted above the tank in a convenient location.

Empties most recirculating toilets in less than 2 minutes; empties a typical 30-gallon holding tank in less than 3minutes.

Designed to greatly improve one of the least desirable functions of the RV experience. Cleanly handle both the black and gray water from your holding tanks with this new self-priming, powerful macerator pump. The pump housing is designed to connect on to the standard 3″ sewer adapter. Power leads with plug may be permanently attached to vehicle, or battery clips may be attached for complete portability.

Note: Some vehicles require an angle adapter for proper fit.

Doesn’t last, and doesn’t work as describedIve been full timing in my 5th wheel for several years. This is one of the wige rv purchases I’ve made in this time.I bought this pump in the spring of 2018. Not even 18 months later am shopping for a new pump.Never has this pump run through a full black tank. It over heats and shuts down after 2-3 minutes, has to cool down then starts again. My black tank needs dumping every 3 weeks, over the last 18 months that means ive run this pump maybe 20 times. That works out to almost $20 / use. Would’ve been cheaper and probably quicker to haul my rig to a sani station once a month. The last time I ran it, i could hear the bearings failing and liquid was starting to drip from the pump.On a good day it would take more than 20 minutes of on and off cycling to empty the black tank.Like i don’t have better things to do than stand around waiting for my black tank to empty.Don’t waste your money on this over priced pump.

Happy with purchase!Hooks right to the sewer valve on trailor. Came in case with remote switch. My hubby wired it to 50amp alligator clamps to hook to trailor battery. Can hear when it mulches. We put grey water through it too to help flush line. We are using it in a camp setting, so 160ft of garden hose to the sewer container… works good. Two others in the camp use the same set up.Having it mulch and pump can move it along the garden hose line and up hill.Very happy with the purchase right now!Seems expensive compared to other models… but don’t cheap out or you will have issues. Worth every penny!

pump works well, but attachment fittings are a vulnerabilityThe pump unit has worked flawlessly since purchased last year. We use it to pump out the tanks on our travel trailer. However, as others have noted, the tabs that lock the unit to the sewer outlet fitting are a serious liability. First, the tabs are poorly fitted for the standard design. They are extremely tight, at least on our trailer setup, and if used as supplied would have had a high likelihood of snapping off, leaving us with a non functional pump.Second, the plastic used for the adapter housing is, in my opinion, not fit for purpose. There is no way that the tabs should be as vulnerable to breaking off as they appear to be.The tight fit can be solved by careful filing of the tabs to loosen the fit, but the basic issue of breakable tabs still remains if this is all you do. What I did to solve both problems was to permanently install a clear polycarbonate extension to the pump body, encasing the joint in thickened epoxy over wrapped with glass cloth and epoxy. This supports the vulnerable tabs so they cannot be broken, and also allows me to observe what is being pumped out of our tanks. With this modification, I highly recommend the pump as an alternative to the stinky slinky option.Without this modification to deal with the vulnerable tabs, I doubt I would choose the pump over the slinky.

Great Product, well worth the cost, know your limitations. This is a very good Product, works well, yet a couple of things one should know about as well. There is nothing written on the product page about distances which be used for different size hoses, so let me share what was written inside the Flojet container, LOL!!!!! 5/8 hose, 25 ft, 3/4 inch hose 50 feet. Now having shared this, it is important to ensure that you also have a few extra Fuses available for the handheld starter button. If you find that you are pumping too far, the unit will over-heat and shut off, reset itself internally and then can be turned back on.I have had no issues learning the limitations and working with the Unit as specified by the manufacturer, yet I pump almost 68 feet with a 3/4 inch hose and the unit works great. I did start of with a 5/8 hose at 100 feet, that was challenging to have the unit turn off and on. I then went to a 3/4 Hose, cut the hose down to the actual distance I needed and NOT any ADDITIONAL length, why pump waste through extra hose line? Just cut it off at the length required and that stopped any issues with over-heating and fuses.I would recommend a 3/4 inch line and not to waste your time on a smaller 5/8 hose unless it is specifically for grey water or galley water. The pump works smoother and easier and less hot with the large hose and you can easily hear the sound of the pump with the 3/4 inch hose running not as loud and or labored.

Little beast. EfficientVery powerfull and efficient for the size. I install a permanent set-up with a marine battery and a 2 amp charger. So my battery is always full when I need to enpty out my RV sewer tanks. I’m pushing sewer in 100 feet of garden hose ( 1 inc hi viz hose from MyMotorhomeLife ) very powerfull and easy to use. Strongly recommended

ok this thing is awesome. It really opened up a lot more locationsok this thing is awesome. It really opened up a lot more locations. I travel for a living and often times stay on the job site. Previously it has always been a honey pot then hump it over to the clean out and dump situation. Now its just roll the hose out. turn on the pump and wait about 5 minutes to clear my 30 gallon black water tank. Switch to the grey water to flush the hose out and another 5 minutes and I cap the water hose and roll it up. Way faster, way cleaner. I have even loaded the honey pot in the bed of the pick up and used this to pump the black tank into the honey pot then hauled it almost 10 miles to the dump station. So much easier than hauling the trailer out then back in just to dump. I have a clear 6 inch pipe, linked below, that I install between this and the trailer so that I can see when the tanks are cleared. You can hear the difference in the pump when it’s cleared but I prefer to be certain as there is still a trickle whenever the pump spins up that will fill the pump and surprise you when you disconnect.I have mine connected as recommend to a 3/4″ hose and wired it to battery clamps, kind of like those found on jumper cables. This allows for a clean and mobile pump that can work anywhere quicklyhttps://www.amazon.com/Camco-Sewer-Hose-Adapter-Transparent/dp/B016V2JMBS/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525727997&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=clear+sewer+connector+for+rv

This product works very well when you need to pump …This product works very well when you need to pump poo uphill. I bought a 3/4 hose and pump poo uphill about 100′ without any issue. I would warn about one thing when using this product and that is make sure it is not hooked up to power when moving it around. The button is sensitive and if you are moving it and the button hits the ground you will have poop everywhere!. I added several feet of wire to the pump so that it could reach my batteries at the front of my RV and was still several feet short. I plan on rewiring it again so that I don’t have to move a battery to the pump to make it work. That being said I have two black water tanks to the back one is very far from the front of the RV. If you need to pump poo over a long distance this product is for you, don’t hesitate on making the purchase!

I love it.This has made my life sooooo much simpler. I have three slides and it was a terrible pain to drive my trailer to the dump once a week. Now I just pump into a portable tank and drive my pickup to the dump.BTW – note that this pump has a ‘flush’ connection to pump fresh water into the black water tank. This is important. When you are using the pump the waste leaves the black water tank much more slowly and some, ummm, solid chunks may be left behind. When using this pump you must flush the tank.

This should be included with all trailers!I’m new to the whole camper/trailer scene – but I can’t see how people can live without one of these! A little bit of a pain to hook up (running the power to the battery up front via long cables so I may hard-wire a drop for it some day) but oh-so-easy after that. Running the pump though a non-kink hose – uphill! – and emptying the tanks is fast and clean. I can empty, then fill with fresh water for cleaning, and empty again TWICE before the guy next to me is done. It’s fast, keeps my tanks clean, and it cleans itself! What I recommend:One – A sturdy, non-kinking garden hose for the waste-line. Had a hose that kinked. It never cause an issue, but we are dealing with poop under pressure so I upgraded my hose. Two – A back-flow preventer for the “fresh-water” line used to clean the tank. Never use your drinking water hose for this, even with a backflow preventer, but you should still use one to protect the faucets and equipment supplying you with the water.Three – I extended the power cord quite a bit so I could reach my battery easily. You may need to as well.Four: A Clear adaptor, like this

Poop BeastThe paperwork included with the waste says maximum distance of 25′ with 5/8″ hose or 50′ with 3/4″ hose. That presented a potential issue whereas I had read that it would pump of to 100′ and would be doing every bit of that plus going uphill (Driveway where coach is parked is at basement level and sewage access is near house on first level). I gave it a try, and it had no problems pumping 40 gallons of waste 100′ on an 8′ incline using a 100′ 3/4″ hose. I did shut the pump off intermittently, open the water port at times to clear the hose and ensured I wasn’t overworking the pump. It had no issue at all
