It works great.We purchased an MR-9W model. I was surprised how well it worked. I placed the ThermalCell under our picnic table. In 5 minutes, we noticed that all mosquitos were gone. We had two big pots of chrysanthemum and citronella plants as well as used numerous anti-repellent candles. None of them worked as well as the ThermaCell that effectively covers a larger area. I hope the product designer can consider improving the visibility of “the” orange light that is used as an indicator of the butane starting to heat the pad. It was not easy to see the tiny orange light through a very small hole right above the power switch. Overall, it does work if it is used properly.

Buy a product that works, avoid this one.Buyer beware — this is a useless product, does not work even in small patio areas. RV also does not allow any return so you will be stuck with this even with its total false claims as a functioning device. Had I known about the return policy I would have been suspicious in purchasing; now I see why this “deal” was pushed.

This product is FANTASTIC! I had my doubts before I ordered but …This product is FANTASTIC! I had my doubts before I ordered but read favorable reviews by the US Military so I thought that’s a good endorsement give it a try. Worked so well I ordered a second one. We have a large deck with two patio tables so I put one on each table and there are ZERO bugs anywhere on the deck. This is with a full course dinner being eaten by all and even ice cream bars for the kids after. I recommend to all my friends and neighbors. I read a few negative reviews that I find humorous. I guess some people just like to complain or are completely helpless in following directions. The lamp is less than $30 so if it ever stops working get a new one for Pete’s sake. The refills are fine. The blue pads that go on top last a long time and the butane refills do also. We had a party yesterday and I got them going around 1:30 and when everyone left around 8PM they were still going. One review complained about 4 batteries instead of 3? -smh 🙂

At last!Mosquitos and I are best friends. I’ll light 6 torches, a citronella candle and spray deet on me and I’ll still get bit. I write this review after a fresh rain on my deck next to thick grass in shorts and a t-shirt and say with confidence…this thing…works! Buy it!

Cute, great for small areas, worksI live by a lake and as such during the summers mosquitoes are unbearable. My husband had enough of being eaten alive so I searched for a mosquito repellant situation. My sister in law bought the zapper and although it works, it’s a mess of mosquito carcasses and has to be left on and you can’t help but hear the zing of dying mosquitos! We used this and although we have a pretty small backyard, he was untouched while grilling. It’s also super cute! The only downside is make sure you turn it off or you will waste through the fluid (oops).

Finally! I can go outside again!Despite all the great reviews, I was still skeptical when I ordered this lantern. However, I was desperate, so I tried it. The last few years or so, I’ve developed a horrible reaction to mosquito and other bug bites. Example: One tiny bite on the back of my hand caused my entire hand/fingers/wrist to swell up, with visible redness (and extreme burning/itching) all the way up to my armpit. I’ve tried citronella torches, candles, wristbands, etc. (They help a little, but I still get bit.) I couldn’t enjoy my backyard anymore, because just one bite would ruin me for the next day or so. I feel like I’m stuck inside, watching from the window, while everyone else is out enjoying the pool and yard.I didnt know that these Thermacell products existed until a few weeks ago, when I was researching mosquito lawn services, repellants, bug lotions…. anything that might let me enjoy our yard now that winter is gone. I found that the Thermacell products were FAR cheaper than any services I was quoted on. So I thought I’d give Thermacell a try first. I’ve been testing this lantern for a couple weeks now and have not been bit by a single bug! (We’ve used it at least 10 nights now. ) Tonight, I didn’t realize the butane had run out. My husband was bit twice in a few minutes and we just KNEW the lantern must have run out. (No way could we have mosquitos around with our lantern on! We’re THAT confident in this thing now.) Once I switched to a new butane cartridge, the bugs went away again and we had no more bites!I also ordered the 120 hour refill kit that includes both pad and butane refills so that I don’t run out and get stuck inside again! So happy I won’t have to pay for chemical treatments in my yard!P.S. The lantern does provide some decent glow, but it’s small, plastic and looks it. It doesn’t fool anyone into thinking it’s a pretty, decorative table lantern. It’s a great tool, just not as “decorative” as I thought it would be. (Since this thing will be a permanant fixture on my patio table, I’d happily pay extra for a nicer looking, non-plastic model if they ever make one!) When I order products for the rest of the yard, I’ll probably skip the lantern and order the towers that come in various colors, because they have a cover/lid to place over them when not in use. The lantern has no top cover/lid, so we have to keep it indoors when not in use.) The great thing is that the refills I have will fit all of the Thermacell products!
