  1. JC Mexico

Awkward stand and loud.I would not buy again. The stand is very awkward and unstable, and the unit is loud even on the lowest setting.

Horrible stand and mount – not everything can be made from plasticBoth the stand and claw mount are horrible for this fan. Everything in the mounting hardware is plastic which cause the screw used to tighten the claw mount to break during the first use rendering it completely unusable. Why Vornado didn’t use metal for any of the mount is beyond me, its just a really stupid choice. The tripod worked okay but the fan can’t be adjusted without loosening the screw that holds the fan to the mount which just creates a hassle as the screw can stick pretty bad due to everything being plastic. The actual fan works okay and I just use it without the stand now as it is way easier but its not worth the price like this. Very disappointed with this fan. I have one of Vornado’s big shop fans and this thing is way louder then it and doesn’t move nearly as much air. If you’re looking for a fan don’t get this. Try one of Vornado’s other fans or try a different brand that actually uses metal where metal is needed.

WEAK FANS, no way could you feel the fan from 10-20ft, let alone 70ft as advertisedBased on relatively good reviews I purchased two of these fans to mount at workstations where my shop teammates work within 3-6ft from the tables… A+ for fast shipping, but the fans themselves are worthless. They are pretty noisy, which makes you think they’re pretty powerful, but they aren’t. Barely feeling the movement of air across the tables (about 4ft from fan). Poor enough performance, I scheduled return about 15min after they arrived… will find better fans that are worth the money.

Great fan, however the leg bottoms slip on tile floors!Vornado fans are very good quality, well made fans. I own several different sizes have them over many, many years. The stand on this unit I do not like. The legs slip on tile flooring meaning that the legs spread out and won’t “stand” taller. On concretr or other rough surfaced areas the legs hold better however there needs to be an improved leg system thus allowing them to lock in place like the collar locks this unit already has. Low speed was enough air for me and I’m always hot. I placed this fan in garage and bought smaller, personal fan which is great (also Vornado brand). This fan is great other than the 3 legged stand.

Not what I hoped it would be.Vornado makes great fans. I have many and they are all great. As a just a fan, it’s great. The problem is I was hoping to get a solid fan that I could clip to my son’s dorm bunk that was bigger and more prwerful than many of the other mini-fans you see for this purpose. The optional clamp is plastic and essentially worthless. The fan is much larger that it looks and this clamp has no chance to hold it up. Not even close. The three-legged base is also plastic and unless the legs are fully spread out, they too have no chance to hold the fan. Admittedly, this is more of an industrial fan and if you have a large enough space to put it on it will more than do the trick. But, I tried to use it for a dorm room (which is challenged for space) and it didn’t cut it. The fan itself is powerful and works as good as any other Vornado fan. I just wish the accompany hardware, especially the clamp, worked better.

Middle of the RoadSo, I bought this partially b/c of the marketing on the product page, & partially on the reviews. Admittingly I didn’t read as many as I normally do. It’s hot, I wanted a fan that works, I turned to the Vornado brand. Wanted something with a different form factor, that maybe I could stick in a window.. etcSO, this thing is made out of A LOT of plastic. It seems to be heavy duty though. This shop fan, is very loud, because with the form factor, ie, it not having a “large” fan blade, it has to spin at a faster RPM, to move more air. Keep that in mind. It is loud. Now, was my mind on this particularly important subject, when I made my purchase. No, no it was not.Another thing on the Form factor, admittingly I bought it b/c I was torn between something I had bought before, and this, b/c it kinda looks cool. There, I said it… Probably half the reason most of us bought it.This is what I bought before and it works great:https://www.amazon.com/Vornado-293-Heavy-Duty-Shop-Circulator/dp/B0013LNKIY/ref=pd_rhf_ee_s_rp_c_0_7/139-7181820-3593918?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0013LNKIY&pd_rd_r=8e5f6edf-b04b-4c3a-b0f6-7b3860aff219&pd_rd_w=FVNfW&pd_rd_wg=BqCsM&pf_rd_p=bff83a18-a4b4-4a99-a0ab-92dfb4f9ec2a&pf_rd_r=4BYCQ967JNTMN4914Q59&psc=1&refRID=4BYCQ967JNTMN4914Q59With the legs, I initially thought they were adjustable, like you could set up the tri-pod anyway you wanted or anywhere. Turns out, that IS NOT THE CASE. The Legs splay open, in a set manner, to give it a solid stable base to work on, but that’s it..The only really good thing about this fan, is the switch… Its really easy to flip on and off. And select speeds. Super easy.Something that has crossed my mind, on the fan design, is, how the fan, is “Direct drive” blade attached to the motor.. Well, you already have the motor taking up a large chunk of space behind the blade, then on top of that, with this design, you have 4 huge bars of plastic, hindering airflow.I’m very curious how much inefficiency is coming into play with this particular design???TL:DR This fan, is small angry and loud. It throws a focused amount of air, at an “effective range” of 10 feet. You might technically be able to see air movement at 70 feet , but it probably wouldn’t be noticeable.Over all the fan does its job, moves air. I have some slight buyer’s remorse with this purchase.Update: July 3, 2020 – 10 days after purchasing this, I had it in a window, to suck in a breeze…Anyways, it fell out, landing on the wood floor, from 3 feet.. And while the fan housing, was PERFECTLY fine.. one of the fan blades, broke in the mostpeculiar way, inside the housing. Which.. was the visual representation of IRONY. If you look at the design, nothing can get into the blade b/c of the very well designed cage around it.Long story short, I attempted to salvage my purchase by using a triple fan blade, from a previous vornado unit that served me well but finally wore out, and modifying it to fit this shaft/enclosure. (A fun experiment)Welp I made it work. But the toughness.. of this unit, is weirdly lacking. SO I lowered the rating to 2 stars.

    2) Claw attachment is permanently fixed at 90 deg which reduces flexibility is places to attach (would work better if it could rotate down straight) Other wise another …Small, well built and moves air.Several cons1) high speed is loud.2) Claw attachment is permanently fixed at 90 deg which reduces flexibility is places to attach (would work better if it could rotate down straight)Other wise another solid Vornado fan

  9. T Bunk

Not really a Heavy Duty Shop FanIt worked well for about 2 hours and broke when it was knocked over by my dog. I mean look at the stand… It’s not that high… He did hit it pretty hard, however, I wouldn’t expect a heavy duty shop fan to be broken so easily falling 6″ to 8″. I have had cheap box fans hold up to the way more abuse from kids and dogs, so much for the heavy duty claim. I am not that impressed, especially for the cost. I hate giving bad reviews, I can count them on one hand.
