OUR MISSION: LuminAID seeks to make safe light and energy accessible for all.
LUMINAID’S BRIGHT IDEA
We conceived of the LuminAID light when we were students at architecture school in New York City. A devastating earthquake had just struck Haiti, and we asked ourselves what we could design to help survivors of such an event. When we think of our most basic human needs, we often think of food, water, and shelter. But the stories we were hearing of the dangerous conditions at night in the tent cities inspired us to turn our attention to another critical need: light.
We designed an inflatable solar lantern that could pack flat to be cost-effectively distributed after disasters. The simple, rechargeable lantern is lightweight, easy to use, and serves as a safer alternative to hazardous candles or toxic kerosene for people without stable access to electricity. For ten years, we’ve worked with humanitarian partners across the world to send LuminAID lights to those who need them most.

Amazing LightFirst off, yes, this light is expensive – BUT WORTH IT! The light, on the highest setting, is bright enough to light up the interior of an 8 man tent. The light is also wonderfully diffused so you don’t get blinded in the dark. It pops up easy and squashes down to perfectly portable size. Some people complain about cell phone charging but I was able to charge my Samsung Galaxy S9 using a USB 2 to USB C charging cable with absolutely no issue.I will be buying one more of these lights. Again, a bit expensive, but you’ll be happy and that’s priceless.

Doesn’t charge phones. This works great as a lantern, but doesn’t charge my phone at all. When I plug it in it starts charging but then turns off after 2 seconds. Also online it states the only “phones” that it charges fully is a go pro and a headlamp…. false advertising saying it’ll charge your phone 3 times

Useful in both outdoor and urban situations, travel, emergenciesThis is amazing, and way more useful than you can imagine. I keep it in my car trunk, and if I’m going to somebody’s house at night it’s easy to sling it over my wrist and have extra light, both to get stuff out of my trunk and to find my way to the door. In the recent heat wave, I camped in a friend’s basement, and this served as my bedside lamp. During power outages this winter, I used this as a light and to charge my phone. If I go for a walk at night, even if it’s not yet dark out, I take this along just in case I’m out longer than I expect. It’s so lightweight and easy to carry, but so bright that I feel safe knowing that cars can easily see me and I can see the path where I’m walking.

Best LED Emergency Light Ever!!Aside from being a great company working with NGOs, they design and manufacture great home, travel, and emergency solar charged lights. We live in “tornado alley” and keep several in our safe room. This year we are giving family and friends models that can recharge cellphones as well as provide emergency lights. They travel well in the car as an emergency roadside light.

great for walkingworks great! I use it while walking in the evenings since the sun is starting to set earlier. provides enough light to see without being obnoxious & helps with being visible to cars. I use it on the red mode since it’s easier on the eyes. definitely hope to use it while camping too!

Light weight, lots of lightMy daughter bought one of these for my husband to use at his privative cabin, he used it for a couple of days and was impressed…then, a friend of his came to visit and his dog thought it was a toy and proceeded to grab it like a ball and punctured it. I purchased two more for my emergency kit and am trying to decide if I’ll replace my husbands lantern or not, I’m not to happy about him setting it someplace where the dog could get ahold of it.

Wonderful new camping lightYears ago I bought an inflatable solar light from Luminaid. Years later it still performs and works as if brand new. I recently added this light to my camping gear. It packs nice and flat and does indeed charge your cell phone. The light is bright and collapsed with relative ease. I LOVE the color coordinated charging cord. No need to guess what cord goes with what device. Hopefully this will last for a long long time like my other solar lantern.

Amazing! This light is fantastic! Between our power frequently going out and our love of camping, I wanted to streamline and simplify our lighting and charging needs. This little cube is phenomenal. Our power went out here awhile back and was out for about a day or so and this little light went strong the whole time! And we had enough juice to keep our phones charged. This light is also easier on the eyes than traditional lanterns because the opaque cube diffuses it. This little lantern is a must in anyone’s camping or at home survival needs. It may be a bit on the pricier side but it’s totally worth it for all it does and its ease of use.

Highly recommended!Love the different settings of brightness esp the red light mode. I brought it with me when we hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim in 1 day. We needed the red light esp we started hiking around 10PM and used it on our breaks By day time, the light charges and used it to charge our phones! Also used it to light our truck camper!

Heavy But Cranks out the Lumens!I’ve owned several Luminaid lights and loved every one. The Titan model is the largest and heaviest in their lineup. So it has a large battery and a larger solar charger than any other Luminaid light, but the tradeoff is this is much heavier than their other models. If you don’t mind a little extra weight, however, its worth the brightness and charging capability the Titan offers. Several different light modes to save battery power or to light up any tent or room, and I love the ability to charge electronics when I’m off the grid. If you’re an ultralight backpacker you won’t want this. But if you’re willing to sacrifice an extra pound in your pack, or if you’re tailgate camping, this lantern is the best I’ve ever had.
